We are excited to announce our next Steps to Success: Girls In Media event at Olson on Saturday, April 22, 2017. There is no denying that the media has a significant influence on girls today. Girls consume media that often contain strong messages that ties a girl's worth to her appearance. Our Girls In Media provides an opportunity for girls to hear from a panel of extraordinary women in our community who work in all aspects of media. This new CGL event will empower girls to control the effect that the media can have in their lives by creating their own positive values-based messages of confidence and leadership. Who should attend?   The Girls In Media event content is primarily geared toward girls in middle and high school looking to explore careers in the media, but girls and parents of all ages are more than welcome!

Why should I attend?  This will be a fantastic opportunity to connect with successful women in the community! Learn about their career journeys, understand what inspires them and explore whether this might be a path for you.

What should I expect?   The event will include a panel discussion by local women who work in media and interactive activities that will be a fun way for girls to explore different ways to create.

Can parents attend? YES! Attending with your daughter is highly encouraged! If your daughter is interested in pursuing a career in media, the panel discussion will be great for you to participate in. While the girls are involved in the interactive activities, we will be facilitating a focus group for parents where we seek to better understand specific gaps in helping girls achieve leadership roles.

How much does this cost?   This event is sponsored by the Center for Girls’ Leadership and is free! Space is limited, prior registration is required.

How do I register? Use the registration page on the right to sign up.

Can I volunteer to help with the event?  Absolutely! Please complete the interest form on our website and someone will contact you with details on how you can help.

What about parking? Free parking is available in the adjacent parking lot. There is also metered street parking available.
