2014. A brand new year, full of promise and hope. This time of the year is full of goals and dreams and planning ahead.
We are ready for 2014. Last year was a transition year for the CGL. We found ourselves wanting to be so many things but never having enough time to execute properly. And slowly, as 2013 came to a close, we felt called to focus.
Building a nonprofit from the ground up is hard work. But the key to crashing through the glass ceiling is to build a strong foundation to stand upon. For 2014, the Center for Girls' Leadership will be focusing on the fundamentals.
Three things: Programming, Connecting, Fundraising. Our 2014 focus.
Programming // Our programming goals are specific. We commit to hosting 2 Steps to Success programs this year. In March, we will feature a Steps to Success: Women in STEM event and this October, we will host a Women In the Arts program.
In addition, we are excited to announce our first Real Girls Real Leadership day camp this June. The Center for Girls' Leadership will host a two-day RGRL for both middle school and high school girls. More details to follow.
This year, we will also be looking for opportunities to co-sponsor events that are in line with our mission.
Connecting // During 2014, the CGL will focus on connecting with people in our community who are passionate about leadership and fighting for gender equality.
There are also openings available on the CGL Board of Directors as well as on our events, marketing, and education committees. We will be actively looking to find the right people to serve in these positions.
In addition, we will be developing an Advisory Leadership Board that will act as mentors to our current board members and guide us on our journey as we inspire girls today to lead tomorrow.
Our third goal for Connecting is to develop a complete Social Media and Communication plan. We have big plans to expand our reach and to bring great content to our supporters. Make sure you are following us on facebook and twitter. If you are not on our mailing list, you can subscribe here.
Fundraising // Our goal is always sustainability. We will continue to offer mission-driven, fun events with low expenses in order to fund our programs each year.
This year, our focus will continue to be on donor development and implementing donor-centric best practices. As we cultivate relationships, we will grow the Center for Girls' Leadership into a sustainable organization.
So that's it, our strategic plan for 2014. We continue to learn, to meet new people, to develop leaders and to reach more girls. 2014, let's do this!
We can't do it without you. Are you in?
